THE TEAM

Kwasha Executive Director and Founder

director

Karen Raborn is the spirit behind the school. She was born and raised in Solwezi, Zambia and knows intimately the needs of the children in the area. She founded the school in 2013 in response to the many children in the area who would otherwise not have an opportunity for an education. Although Karen lives in St. Louis, she is deeply involved in the operation of the school. She communicates with the school administrators several times per week and travels annually to the school, staying several weeks depending on the needs. As Executive Director, Karen is responsible for:

- Overseeing the financial business of the school following consultation and approval by the Board of Directors
- Coordinating the education and feeding programs working closely with the school administrator and farm manager
- Identifying the needs of the school facilities and coordinating construction operations
- Acting as a liaison between Kwasha and the Zambian government officials (Ministry of Education) in order to fulfill all government requirements for a private community school

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Kwasha-Kids is a group of dedicated individuals who from Saint Louis, Missouri plans the overall direction of the school in order to implement its educational mission. A second board consisting of five members from Zambia also assists with the school.
